In the wake of the Xbox layoffs, we highlighted earlier this month how an Xbox producer had come under fire for suggesting AI could help with people losing their jobs, and unfortunately the trend continues!
This latest example is actually even crazier. One of the members of the Xbox Graphics team has taken to LinkedIn to share an AI-generated image mentioning how the team is hiring for new members, and as if using an AI image wasn’t disappointing enough, there’s a massive mistake in the picture that everyone’s pointing out.
Here’s a look – you’ll probably figure it out pretty quickly:

As you can see, the monitor is basically turned the wrong way!
The reception to this post has been extremely critical as you’d expect, with a lot of people taking to LinkedIn to question what on earth they were thinking by posting it.
Here are just a few examples:
“Brother, is there anyone there who can teach you guys how to read the room”
“Trying to imagine what it must be like for thousands of Xbox staff getting laid off, watching the head of graphics posting AI slop to advertise new vacancies, with the monitor the wrong way round.”
“You’re the lead of the Xbox GRAPHICS team and didn’t notice you posted an image where almost everything is wrong (including, ethically speaking, the use of AI)? Why would anyone apply to be on your team?”
What else do we need to say about this?! It feels very tone-deaf, and we’d like to say it won’t keep happening, but it’s the second example in a month now. We know that Microsoft is big on AI and everything, but this is ridiculous!
